Work and Live is a consultancy focused on working with individuals to get a clear perspective on the work life balance they want, getting the best out of work and life, so that work is more than just a pay-check and bonus, and living means taking every opportunity to enjoy life and learn new skills to help ourself and others. Seen this way, change is an opportunity to re-evaluate and consider new strategies for our life – it can be the trigger for change that we may have wanted to happen anyway, with the advantage that we may be able to use resources provided by the organisation to help us to do this, so that we achieve a double whammy.
This may include sabbaticals, MBA’s, new learning, new start-ups, buy-ins, buy-outs, private equity, not for profit initiatives where our time is not charged out at full market rate, consultancy, interim management, opportunities abroad where growth may be continuing, or life is just more exciting, travel, writing fiction or non fiction, research that we have always wanted to do but have never had time, time to be a full time parent or more than a weekend parent, all these and many more come into consideration. This will only come after a clear perspective has been developed of what is wanted, so that action follows a clear perspective, not the other way round. Organisations will sometimes support these initiatives because they know that when the economic cycle turns, the sector are likely to hire back 50%+ of the people – and the wider and deeper the skills available, and the more satisfied the individual the better they will be.
